Shilfild is almost background character in spite her role is quite important in the story.

>Series: In the series the role of Shilfild is smaller and has less importance than in novels. A peculiar detail is that in the series her father makes apparition in the story. She already knew Gourry from some previous experience, but it isn't mentioned at all.

> Novels: Shilfild is a quite important personage in novels, since so much in the history of the Clone of Rezo is implied, like in the one of Xanaferd (that in novels is different histories) Besides that, she spent some time with Zelgadiss before she met Gourry again. Her father is mentioned, but he doesn't' appear.

* Rumors*

That way one circulates that says that she is Princess de Sairaag. That is false, Shilfild is a priestess of high rank within the clergy of the city, just that.

Shilfild had quite calm life until she met Lina. Apparently, she was born and grew happily in Sairaag with her parents, being unique daughter. Being a child, she was quite naughty girl, and she committed many pranks: she liked to walk by the Flagoon forest, something that most of the inhabitants of Sairag avoided, and even got to rob Flaggon Holy Sword from the temple where it was guarded, and hiding it in the interior of the tree. Later, she settled the head, and as her father, she became a priestess, being very skilled in White Magic.

Being a young adolescent, Gaury stopped in her home city and did something in the city of Sairag, apparently, freeing the city of a great danger. Thanks to that, Shilfild was pledged with him deeply, for that reason and for the fact that Gaury is descending of the hero who in the past already had saved the city. Nevertheless, she never wants to speak more with anybody about what happened there.
Finally it knew Lina and the others (or to Zelgadiss and the others, according to the version) and followed one another the misfortunes: Shilfild has been able to see in repeated occasions as Gaury does not correspond to him, and as if that were not enough, was privileged witness of the complete destruction of her home city... in two occasions, which has influenced powerfully in her emotional state. Finally, and seeing that it did not have another place to where going, it ended up settling to live in Seillon with his Gray uncle.
Shilfild began a new life in Seillon, on her uncle's home as priestess, working in a Cure house, although she did not waste the time, and in order to compete with Lina by Gaury's love, she ended up learning the "Dragon Slave". Possibly, she heard by the mouth of a client than the city of Sairag had appeared back again, and she traveled there, meeting again with Lina and the others. She helped to defeat Phibrizo, and later, she returned again to Seillon, where she does not seem that she has leaved again.

Shilfild is not one of the personages more loved by the public in general and individual by the fans. The reasons are that their character, symmetrically opposed to the one of Lina in many aspects (in certain way it is his mental counterpoint like Naga is it in the physicist), because its excessive sweetness, although perhaps comprehensible for the Japanese public, is cloying for us, of the same form that its obsession with Gaury. Nevertheless it is necessary to include/understand to Shilfild...

She had had a calm and until overnight (and never rather said) she sees how her home and family are destroyed in a single blow and without she could prevent it, and also how the spirits of their family and people are handled by the will of Fibrizo. Also she sees herself how its only consolation, that Gaury answers her love, either ever happens .Therefore Shilfild is transformed into a melancholic and closed person. Despite of that, Shilfild demonstrates in several occasions she's able to act with courage and decision when the occasion demands it, having learned the spell of the "Slave Dragoon" and using it with success in the combat against Fibrizo. Similarly, she does not get collapsed, she is glad about her friends and she is able to begin a new life in Seillon. Despite of that, Shilfild it is not as self-sufficient as the rest of the members of the group, and she needs to lean in anybody to be able to continue ahead, so she, even as much she loves Gourry, she hardly will venture herself to any trip or adventure unnecessarily.
